National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day

with No Comments

National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day is observed on the first Wednesday in May. This Wednesday join with us to honour and remember those who have lost their lives due to domestic and family violence, as well as those left behind. Domestic violence has now been acknowledged as a national crisis in Australia. Let us light a candle or observe a minute’s silence at 11am on Wednesday to illuminate hope and advocate for change.

Twenty-seven women have been violently killed since the start of the year, according to the advocacy group Counting Dead Women Australia, researchers of Destroy the Joint.

This National Day is an opportunity for our community to express their belief that everyone has the right to be free from harm and to live without fear of violence or abuse, especially at home. For more info about support services go to https://northernbeachesdvnetwork.org/and https://NBWS.org.au
